Swiss-German entertainment group Highlight Communications on Thursday posted better than expected annual results for 2005, including a 25% boost in net profit.
Highlight, which increased its stake in leading German producer-distrib Constantin Film earlier this year to more than 90%, saw earnings climb to $17.9 million.
Revenue, however, dropped 11% to $366 million from the previous year, when company was buoyed by Constantin’s box office hits “Downfall” and “Spaceship Surprise: Period 1.”
Highlight enjoyed exceptionally strong business from homevid, with revenue up 23% to $87 million, while theatrical film revs dipped 21% to $236 million. As a result, the overall share of company revenue stemming from its theatrical film biz dropped from 73% to 64.5%.
