Deal includes pension and health contributions

With a 308-4 approval of their first contract, Hollywood and New York casting directors and associates have officially entetered into their first contract with studios and networks.

The deal, which runs to September 2009, includes pension and health contributions, holidays, grievance and arbitration procedures, no-strike and no-lockout provisions. Salaries will be subject to individual negotiation, however.

Final approval came Tuesday in New York via a 60-1 vote, following Sunday’s 248-3 vote in Los Angeles. The casting directors are repped through Teamsters Local 817 in New York and Local 399 in Los Angeles.

Pact was finalized in December between the Intl. Brotherhood of Teamsters and the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers. The Teamsters spent three years organizing the casting directors.

“We hope that this is the beginning of a long and cordial relationship,” said Local 399 business agent Steve Dayan.
