LONDON — U.K. film financier and production company Aquarius Films is setting up sister companies in seven countries to create Aquarius World Wide.
Chief executive Terence Potter has already set up Aquarius Australia, headed by Stuart Scowcroft, and will soon unveil similar ventures in South Africa, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Germany and India.
Aquarius has backed 16 pics over the past four years, including the Oscar-nominated “Don’t Tell.”
“It is extremely difficult to finance and produce a film out of one territory alone,” said Potter in a statement. “We now have a substantial global organization that can efficiently access locally available finance and the very best production services.”
Shingle, which has eight pics in the pipeline, intends to make non-U.S. movies budgeted at $5 million to $20 million.
