Five, the U.K.’s smallest terrestrial web, has finally appointed a new acquisitions topper.
Deputy controller of acquisitions Vanessa Brookman takes the new post immediately. She’ll lead Five’s charge at the upcoming L.A. Screenings, where rivalry between British buyers is expected to be intense.
Five director of programs Dan Chambers said, “Five’s acquisition offering is richer than ever, with hit series such as ‘Prison Break,’ ‘House’ and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ recently joining our established ‘CSI’ and ‘Law & Order’ franchises and providing a great platform for Vanessa to build on.”
With less money to spend than rival Channel 4, not to mention ITV, Brookman will have her work cut out for her.
She arrived at Five last year from Channel 4, where she was editor of U.S. series.
