Seven net goes for laugh ‘Relief’

Benefit to stick closely to U.K. formula

SYDNEY — Seven Network will produce a local version of the BBC’s annual comedy fund-raiser “Comic Relief.”

Seven will stick closely to the U.K. formula of music, comedy and TV personalities who raise money and awareness for various charities; local version will concentrate on areas of need in the Asia Pacific region.

Started in 1985, “Comic Relief” has become a Blighty institution that has raised more than $680 million for charity.
