ProSiebenSat 1 acquires Euvia

World Brief

Haim Saban’s ProSiebenSat 1 has taken over interactive and transaction TV group Euvia Media, which operates call-in quiz channel Neun Live and travel sales web Sonnenklar.

ProSiebenSat 1, already a 48.4% shareholder in the group, acquired an additional 48.6% from Barry Diller’s Home Shopping Network and 3% from Euvia topper Christiane zu Salm for E115 million ($152 million).

Euvia has grown strongly over two years thanks to Neun Live, which Germany’s ad-dependent commercial TV sector now looks to as a model for generating revenue through interactive dial-up shows. In 2004, Euvia, which launched in 2001, posted an operating profit of $37 million and revs of $135 million.

ProSiebenSat 1’s acquisition is subject to the approval of Germany’s Commission on Concentration in the Media Sector, and German and Austrian antitrust authorities. Deal is expected to close within four months.
