Morning Ratings Flash - Rick Kissell

NBC, CBS and Fox appeared to be in a virtual three-way tie for Monday’s primetime ratings lead among young adults, according to preliminary nationals from Nielsen.

In the night’s opening hour, NBC’s “Fear Factor” was on the low end of its ratings range (3.8/10 in adults 18-49, 9.7 million viewers overall) but won out over fellow unscripted rivals “Nanny 911” on Fox (3.6/10 in adults 18-49, 9.6 million viewers overall) and ABC’s “Extreme Makeover Home Edition: How’d They Do That?” (3.4/9 in adults 18-49, 8.8 million viewers overall), which had one of its strongest showings to date.

CBS rose to the top from 9 to 10 even with repeats of “Everybody Loves Raymond” (5.1/12 in adults 18-49, 15.9 million viewers overall) and “Two and a Half Men” (5.2/12 in adults 18-49, 15.5 million viewers overall), but Fox was a strong second with “24” (4.8/11 in adults 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall). NBC’s “Las Vegas” placed third (4.2/10 in adults 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall), ahead of the opening hour of the latest edition of ABC’s “The Bachelor.”

For its two hours (from 9 to 11), “The Bachelor” averaged a 3.7/9 in adults 18-49 and 8.3 million viewers overall, continuing the franchise’s ratings declines.

And at 10, NBC’s original “Medium” (5/12 in adults 18-49, 13.6 million viewers overall) and CBS’ repeat “CSI: Miami” (4.9/12 in adults 18-49, 14.8 million viewers overall) ran neck-and-neck in demos.

Preliminary adults 18-49 averages for the night: NBC, 4.3/11; CBS, 4.2/11; Fox, 4.2/11; ABC, 3.6/9; UPN, 1.4/4; WB, 1.2/3.

In total viewers: CBS, 13 million; NBC, 11.6 million; Fox, 10.5 million; UPN, 3.4 million; WB, 3.1 million.
