SINGAPORE — Nickelodeon Asia topper Richard Cunningham is ankling the Singapore-based network to return to the U.S., while Lucy Young, Nickelodeon veep of marketing and communications, is relocating from Singapore to Shanghai.
Cunningham’s replacement has not been named. His move is described by an MTV spokeswoman as “a personal decision … he and his family felt it was time to return to the U.S.”
Young’s move signals an increasing emphasis on the network’s China operation.
“Nickelodeon’s new development in China is of great importance to MTV Networks, and Lucy’s move will help to drive our Nickelodeon business there,” the spokeswoman added.
Meanwhile, Peter Bullard, who’s senior veep of MTV Networks Asia and managing director of the Southeast Asia and Network Group, has segued to MTV’s Japan operation.
“We are expanding our business in Japan. As part of the expansion, Peter has moved to Tokyo, driving the strategic development and processes there,” said the spokeswoman. “He is focused on overseeing the digital media division, covering online, wireless and interactive platforms, as well as growing Nickelodeon’s licensing and merchandising division.”
Replacing Bullard to some extent is longtime Star TV exec Toby Hayward, who joins MTV Networks Asia as exec veep to oversee the advertising sales department.
