NBC soap to reward viewers

Sudser gives out goodies to increase auds

In anticipation of its 40th anniversary, NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” has launched what it says is the first long-term online viewer rewards program for both a daytime drama and a scripted series.

“Days of Our Lives Daily Rewards” is designed to increase viewer frequency through reward incentives.

Members of the program, to be managed by My Sony, an interactive customer relationship division of Sony Corp. of America, will earn points by entering the correct answer to a question pertaining to the soap’s current episode.

Points can be redeemed for savings on Sony merchandise as well as “Lives” merchandise, including autographed memorabilia, props and collectibles.

In March 2003 Sony Pictures Television and My Sony launched “Wheel Watchers Club,” an unscripted long-term online viewer loyalty program for gameshow “Wheel of Fortune.”

“Rewards” will receive advertising and marketing support from both the studio and the network, with a media campaign consisting of broadcast, print and online advertising.
