HOLLYWOOD — Chile’s Mega (Canal 9) has boarded “The Nanny” wagon, one of a string of Latin American broadcasters remaking the Sony Pictures Television Intl. sitcom.
Mexico’s TV Azteca will make its version of “La ninera” this month with the help of Argentina’s Telefe, the first net to remake several of SPTI’s laffers in the region.
Mega is co-producing skein with SPTI’s producing partner in Chile, Roos Films. Roos has produced SPTI’s “The Jeffersons” and “Mad About You” as well as SPTI original scripted drama “Bienvenido a la realidad” with Chilean broadcaster TVN.
Mega also has co-produced original medical drama “Urgencias” with SPTI and Roos.
Skein is probably the most successful remake title for SPTI. It has reincarnated into “Dadi” in Turkey, “Nyanya” in Russia, “Ntavta” in Greece, plus “La ninera” in Argentina and Ecuador.
Reversioning its skeins brings SPTI closer to its ultimate aim: to make original programming abroad.
