FX topper shifts nets
FX Networks CEO Peter Liguori will move to sibling Fox as the broadcast web’s new entertainment prexy.
Liguori replaces Gail Berman, who informed News Corp. this week that she’d be ankling the job to take a top creative job at Paramount. News Corp prexy/COO Peter Chernin made the announcement Thursday afternoon.
Liguori’s appointment is effective immediately. He’ll oversee all of Fox’s development and program scheduling, as well as the net’s marketing, business affairs and promotion.
“Peter has done an extraordinary job with FX,” Chernin said. “He took what was largely a blank slate and turned it into arguably the hottest network in cable.”
Chernin said Liguori takes over Fox “at a time when the network is in as good a competitive position as it’s ever been, and that’s thanks in large part to the leadership and creative instincts Gail Berman demonstrated in her five years at Fox.”
Liguori had served as head of FX Networks since 1998, handling business and program operations for FX and Fox Movie Channel.
