LONON — FremantleMedia’s German subsidiary, Grundy Light Entertainment, is setting up a new production outfit in Switzerland.
Grundy Schweiz AG is a joint venture between Grundy Light Entertainment and Ringier TV, part of Swiss publishing firm, Ringier AG.
Grundy Light Entertainment will hold a majority stake in the new subsidiary, to be run by Grundy Light Entertainment’s CEO, Ute Biernat, and Ringier TV’s managing director, Marc Goertz.
Heading the newly formed combo’s slate is a local version of game show, “Family Feud,” commissioned by Swiss pubcaster, DRS, “5Gegens.”
Said Biernat: “Following the deal with DRS for ‘The Apprentice’ and the commission of ‘5Gegens,’ the creation of Grundy Schweiz AG was the logical next step.
“I’m really looking forward to the upcoming productions and I’m especially proud that we will be producing ‘5Gegens’ — a tried and tested classic game show format.”
The establishment of the Swiss subsidiary follows Cologne-based Grundy Light Entertainment’s recent casting and consultation for the Swiss version of “The Apprentice” with SF2, part of the SF DRS network.
London-based Fremantle Media is owned by RTL, the pan-European broadcast giant.
