ESPN Brazil is upping finance director German Von Hartenstein to general director, taking over from Julio Bartolo, who is stepping down June 15.
Bartolo will remain as a consultant until October, when he will resume his career as a journalist. The exec played a leading role in creating ESPN Brazil in 1995.
Von Hartenstein will report to ESPN Intl.’s executive VP Russell Wolff, who is based in New York.
His major challenge will be to win auds from the nets of Organizacoes Globo, which has the exclusive broadcast rights to the top local soccer leagues.
