Mini conglom plans to expand to Hispanic auds

MEXICO CITY– Grupo Televisa is buying Colombian magazine publisher Editora Cinco for an estimated $30 million, furthering its plans to lock down Hispanic auds on all fronts and not just broadcasting.

Colombian concern prints roughly 70 Spanish-lingo titles, such as Car & Driver and Seventeen, for distribution in Latin America and the U.S. Its inclusion into Televisa’s publishing unit emphasizes net’s continuing push for Stateside Hispanic auds in all its divisions.

Last week, net signed to publish a Spanish-lingo version of ESPN the Magazine, and earlier this month, it released in the U.S. a DVD box set of its popular telenovela “Amor real.”
