Timing coincides with 25th anniversary of the murder
LUCERNE, Switzerland — New insight into the disturbed mind of John Lennon’s murderer, Mark Chapman, is the subject of “I Killed John Lennon,” a documentary commissioned by U.K. web Channel 4.
Launching the program at the 45th Rose d’Or TV festival here, C4 said the 60-minute doc will showcase previously unheard taped interviews with Chapman, conducted by reporter Jack Jones in New York State’s Attica prison.
The docu, timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the former Beatle’s death, reconstructs events on the day of the killing from Chapman’s perspective.
U.K. indie Prime Prods. is producing “I Killed John Lennon.” Andrew Mackenzie, commissioning editor of factual entertainment at C4, commissioned the project.
