MIAMI — Castalia Communications, an indie distrib and producer of pay TV channels, has tapped execs for two newly created positions in sales and production and programming.
Maria Urquiaga has been named senior VP, programming and production. Based in Miami, Urquiaga will supervise the acquisition and production of programming for new channel ventures, as well as programming and scheduling for existing channels, including those of Alterna TV, a division of Satelites Mexicanos and a Castalia client.
Urquiaga has supervised Alterna channels since their introduction to the U.S. market three years ago.
She has worked as a cable consultant since 1997.
John Perez will take on the new position of senior VP of ad sales, based in New York. He joins Castalia from WorldLink Media, prior to which he spent eight years at Univision Communications, where he was senior account executive, national spot sales, in New York.
Both execs report directly to prexy Luis Torres-Bohl.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Castalia has offices around Latin America and in Spain. Its services include affiliate sales and marketing, ad sales, distribution, programming and production for pay TV channels. Clients include BBC World, TV Globo Intl., MGM Networks Latin America, German TV and Grupo Banderaintes.
