Cartoon, Indiecito pact for skeins

Skeins based on 'Isidoro,' 'Patoruzito' on tap for duo

MIAMI — Cartoon Network Latin America has inked with Buenos Aires-based Indiecito, the animation arm of Red Lojo Entertainment, to co-produce two animated series.

First up is 10-episode skein based on “Isidoro Canones,” a Buenos Aires playboy type created by Dante Quinterno in 1945. Cartoon series will bow at year’s end.

Also in the works is a series based on the character “Patoruzito,” star of Jose Luis Massa’s animated film of the same name.

Pic was Argentina’s third-ranked release in terms of admissions, selling 2.1 million tickets, behind “Shrek 2” and “The Passion of the Christ.”

Cartoon has also acquired rights to the film.

Feevee aims to air the film and new series in the first quarter of 2006.

Cartoon Network Latin America is consistently the highest-rated pay TV network in the region. It reaches nearly 16 million homes throughout the Spanish-lingo countries and Brazil.
