Burns burnishes 20th TV sales

Duties extend to off-network series in syndication

Twentieth TV has awarded exec VP stripes to Joanne Burns, head of sales marketing, research and new media.

Burns is working on sales-marketing strategies for next fall’s premiere of “Judge Alex,” a firstrun syndicated half-hour that will run on all Fox-owned TV stations, a sister division of Twentieth.

She’s also analyzing the ratings of “A Current Affair,” which premiered in firstrun syndication this week, mostly on the Fox stations. “Affair” is an updating of the original half-hour tabloid-magazine series that ran in daily syndication 1986-96.

Her duties extend to off-network series in syndication including “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Yes, Dear” and “The Simpsons.”

Before joining Twentieth in 2000, Burns was VP of research and new media for Eyemark Entertainment. Earlier, she was senior VP of syndication research for A.C. Nielsen.
