Biblical proportion

NBC synergizing with sister nets CNBC, Sci Fi, Bravo

NBC Universal is still mastering the finer points of multi-platform synergy, as evidenced with the new hour drama “Revelations.”

Net is providing several chances to sample the show before its second episode. That includes this week’s two reruns on NBC, plus encore plays on sister cable nets CNBC, Sci Fi Channel and Bravo.

Of course, such maneuvers can create a rather awkward audience flow — such as the episode airing on the business news channel sandwiched between “The Big Idea With Donny Deutsch” and “Dennis Miller.”

Come to think of it, that’s probably as good a slot as any for a drama that speculates about the end of the world.

In a further sign of synergy (if not the apocalypse), NBC News contributed a “Dateline” report on bestseller “The Da Vinci Code” that fed into the “Revelations” biblical theme.

And while NBC’s Web site offers both “believer” and “non-believer” links, the online poll seems skewed to the former, asking, “What will bring about the end of the world?”; options include “Spiritual imbalance,” “Natural disasters” and “Man-made holocaust.”

Whatever the choice, let’s hope it doesn’t come before the May sweeps.
