Astral shines as revenue rises 14%

In fourth quarter, b'caster posted bottom line of $24 mil

TORONTO — Canuck broadcaster Astral Media posted another boffo year end that included a 14% bottom line uptick to C$104.4 million ($88.4 million) on revenue up 6% to $465.2 million, thanks to increasing TV ad revenues.

“We are very proud to have been able to deliver solid results yet again in fiscal 2005, with performance meeting the objectives we set for ourselves last year,” said Ian Greenberg, prexy and CEO.

Results were for the year ended Aug. 31.

In the fourth quarter, Montreal- and Toronto-based Astral posted a bottom line of $24 million, an increase of 2%. Revenue for the period was up 6%, at $112 million, with all of the businesses, including pay and specialty TV, as well as radio and outdoor advertising, pitching in with continued growth.
