Armstrong spins again for top Espy

Other nominees include Phelps, Miller, Manning

Lance Armstrong is pushing to win male athlete kudos for the third consecutive year at the 13th annual Espy awards announced Monday by ESPN, but he’ll face competition from quarterback Peyton Manning, golfer Vijay Singh and Olympians Michael Phelps, the swimmer, and Bode Miller, the skier.

This year’s Espys, which will be awarded 9 p.m. ET July 17 at Hollywood’s Kodak Theater, has only one showbiz category, sports movie. The candidates are “Cinderella Man,” “Coach Carter,” “Friday Night Lights” and “Million Dollar Baby.”

The four women vying for female athlete are golfer Annika Sorenstam,; tennis player Maria Sharapova, Olympic swimmer Natalie Coughlinand LSU basketballer SeimoneAugustus.
