Fox Intl. Channels will roll out FX on basic cable on Sky Brazil on Friday, with several cable operators expected to add the channel to their lineups in the first few months.
“FX’s is the biggest launch of a basic channel in Latin America in the last five years, measured by marketing support and availability of firstrun programming,” said Hernan Lopez, senior VP and managing director, Fox Intl. Channels Latin America & U.K.
FX Brazil, targeted to men 18-49, will feature scripted firstrun series including “Rescue Me,” aired originally by FX in the U.S., “NYPD Blue” and “Deadwood.”
It also will offer firstrun sports content from three other News Corp.-owned channels — Fuel, which will provide action sports; Speed Channel, for motorsports; and Fox Sports, which will license to FX certain matches from the premier soccer tournaments Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana for exclusive airing in Brazil.
Movies from 20th Century Fox, DreamWorks and MGM, as well as reality series and drama series such as “The X-Files,” will complete the programming mix.
