The folks behind the Dubai Film Festival put on the dog Tuesday night at the Carlton Beach to promote the event, which is elbowing for room amid an increasingly crowded Arab fest scene.
Despite the rain, industryites braved the beach party, crowding under the tent to sip champagne and exchange business cards. Among those swaying to the band standards were Morgan Freeman, Dennis Davidson and Jan Kounen, not to mention fest CEO Neil Stephenson and Arab Radio Network CEO Abdul Latif Sageh.
To spice things up, fest organizers held a raffle with the lucky winner walking off with a luxurious stay in a swanky Dubai hotel. The event, however, held fast to its 8 o’clock cut-off time, with bartenders ferreting away what was left of the alcohol and forcing guests to seek their next drink elsewhere.
