More than a month after a monster tsunami unleashed wide-scale devastation throughout Asia, showbizzers around the globe continue to collect coin for disaster relief.
On Feb. 3 alone, Grammy organizers unveiled a star-studded benefit perf for its upcoming kudocast, while half the world away, MTV Asia transformed its annual kudocast into MTV Asia Aid. The Grammy benefit perf of “Across the Universe” will be available for download on iTunes, with proceeds going to tsunami relief.
The blitz of charity dinners, auctions and concerts for the cause range from a Funky Buddha Tsunami Earthquake Appeal in London on Jan. 13, to a WaveAid concert (with Midnight Oil) on Jan. 29 in Sydney.
Madonna also lent her voice to the cause, performing via bigscreen at the Unidos Con El Mundo benefit on Jan. 15 in Coconut Grove, Fla., a Telemundo concert that coincided with NBC’s star-studded telethon.

Variety sister publication DVD Exclusive plans to donate proceeds from its Feb. 8 kudosfest to the American Red Cross tsunami relief efforts. And even supermodels got into the act last week with a bowling bash in Gotham; benefits were earmarked for the Habitat for Humanity and the Intl. Justice Mission.
