Stoking Human Spirit

McCormack honored by Wellness Community

Eric McCormack was feted with a 2005 Human Spirit Award on Friday during the Tribute to the Human Spirit dinner hosted by the Wellness Community, a cancer support and education center.

“During my mother’s cancer and her grueling chemo, I felt useless and absolutely helpless, like I was contributing nothing,” admitted the “Will & Grace” star at the Beverly Hilton event. “Afterwards she said to me, ‘Nonsense, you kept me laughing.’ That is what I have to contribute. It’s a drop in the bucket to what the Wellness Community contributes.”

Cancer survivor Robert Goulet also received honors at the kudos dinner, as did TV personality Daisy Fuentes.

“If prostate cancer was a fast-growing cancer I would not be here today, but because it is a slow-growing cancer, the doctors gave me estrogen for six months, “Goulet said. “My voice didn’t get any higher, but my breasts were very sensitive!”
