HOLLYWOOD — Legit guy Tyler Perry made his Hollywood debut Feb. 21 with the bow of his “Diary of a Mad Black Woman.”
Perry, wrote, produced and starred as three separate characters in the pic, which he originally wrote as a play.
“Before talking with Lions Gate, I had decided to do the film for DVD, which is my regular channel of distribution,” Perry told Variety. “But, when they offered me creative control, I was in.”
Pic’s star Shemar Moore expressed his eagerness for Tinseltown to see Tyler’s work.
“He is going to be a force to be reckoned with; not just as Madea (one of the characters he plays in the film), but as a producer, writer and barrier- breaker.”
