Indie film community gets a new home in the Village
The IFC Center, a state of the art cinema facility at the site of the late, perpetually funky Waverly, threw open its doors to a bevy of bigwigs Thursday to celebrate its sleek renovated space in Greenwich Village.
IFC Entertainment topper Jonathan Sehring said the new addition to the nabe would play “home to the indie film community.”
The center, which also boasts digital editing suites for filmmakers, was turned for the evening into a cocktail playground for all of the indie elite. Harvey Weinstein, Bob Berney and Naomi Watts and were seen roving the cavernous space in which each area had its own signature drink — from white and watermelon cosmos to multiple martini offerings and margs maxed out with frou-frou additions.
