HOLLYWOOD — Someone missed something in the planning of the FX party that capped off the cable portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour Sunday.
While critics went to dine on fried shrimp and shish kebab at Trader Vic’s, actors onscreen were binging and puking. FX was previewing “Starved,” a comedy about friends with eating disorders.
Despite some big laughs, some attendees winced noticeably during a scene in which one friend gorges on Chinese food only to throw it up — on a homeless person, no less — moments later.
“I wondered about that as I was watching, if it was such a good idea to show ‘Starved’ during dinner,” said VP of alternative programming Eric Schrier.
Guests fully recovered once the second laffer, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” began.
