Disapproving reviews from critics didn’t stop Paramount from hosting a lavish premiere for Cameron Crowe’s latest romantic comedy, “Elizabethtown,” on Monday in New York City. After the screening, the film’s star, Orlando Bloom, and his on-again off-again girlfriend, Kate Bosworth, had a hard time exiting the Lincoln Center Loews Cinema. Fans in the Cineplex to see already released pics swarmed the celebs as they made their way to the afterparty at Providence in midtown. Once there, Bloom posed for photogs with Paramount execs Brad Grey and Gail Berman and signed autographs for co-star Susan Sarandon’s child and her friends. Meanwhile, Bosworth chatted with guest Scott Speedman.
When asked about the rumors that Ashton Kutcher was once hired to play Bloom’s character and then fired, Crowe kept tight-lipped. “Orlando and I had worked together before I had even seen ‘Lord of the Rings,’ and he always felt like a modern guy to me,” Crowe said. “I had him in mind when I was finishing the script. So he was the first guy that I called, and he wasn’t available, so I saw other actors for a while and then pushed the movie back and waited for Orlando.”
