‘Country’ time

H'wood preem heads 'North'

WHAT: Warner Bros. “North Country” premiere Oct. 10

WHO: Helmer Niki Caro; topliner Charlize Theron; cast Richard Jenkins, Jeremy Renner, Michelle Monaghan and Sean Bean; scribe Michael Seitzman;

and EBay founder Jeff Skoll, whose Participant Prods. helped finance the pic

WHERE: Hollywood’s Grauman’s Chinese, followed by a bash at the Roosevelt Hotel

PROUD PARENTS: You can’t get any more Hollywood than the premiere of a studio pic at the Mann Chinese Theater. That’s what Caro, a New Zealand indie filmmaker, thought as she escorted her parents to the preem. “They think I’m flash!” said the “Whale Rider” helmer, who makes her U.S. directing debut with the pic.

‘TIS THE SEASON: Buzz is already mounting that Theron, as well as co-stars Frances McDormand and Thomas Curtis, could secure Oscar noms for their performances.

“You don’t want to jinx it,” said Warner’s Alan Horn. “But I think Charlize gave one of the finest performances of her career. She’s in every frame.”
