Movie preem hits a homerun

BOSTON — The energy of Beantown was at a “Fever Pitch” on April 6 as Fox preemed the Jimmy Fallon/Drew Barrymore starrer at Fenway Park.

“Pitch” producer Bradley Thomas said he and Peter and Bobby Farrelly were treated so well when they shot at Fenway that they promised they’d come back for the premiere.

Some 5000 screaming baseball fans — filling up five sections of the grandstand — waved pennants for both the movie and the Sox. It was a meeting of sports and entertainment, where Sox star Johnny Damon got bigger cheers than Barrymore and Fallon.

Fallon thanked the fans and hoped he would be accepted as a member of “Red Sox Nation,” but a smiling Tom Rothman, chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, defiantly wore the cap of his beloved Baltimore Orioles. “I think it’s brave but appropriate,” he said of his choice of head gear, “We need to sell tickets everywhere.”
