Legendary thesp shares her 'Life'

Copacabana was chock full of Chita love Sunday, when the old-school glamour spot hosted the opening night fete for “Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life.”

Ben Vereen, Tommy Tune, Dominick Dunne, and all four “Jersey Boys” were among the crowd gathered to celebrate Rivera, the 72-year-old Broadway baby, and her new musical biography.

“Chita performs with this unfettered joy. She is embodied enlightenment,” said Bebe Neuwirth, whose 1996 turn as Velma in the revival of “Chicago” followed in the footsteps of Rivera, who originated the role in 1975.
