Ronald Winans, a Grammy-winning member of The Winans and of gospel’s first family, died June 17 of heart complications in Detroit. He was 48.
Ronald Winans, along with brothers Marvin, Carvin and Michael, was discovered by Grammy-winning gospel singer Andrae Crouch. The group released their first album in 1981 titled, “Introducing The Winans.” Later, their siblings, BeBe and CeCe Winans, would record as a duo and then separately.
Ronald Winans, who sang on five Grammy-winning albums, released his final CD, a live recording titled, “A Celebration,” earlier this year.
