P.R. exec Robert Rains died Aug. 9 in Woodland Hills, Calif. He was 83.
Rains started his career in entertainment in 1946 with International Pictures, and continued there through its merger with Universal. He served as V.P. of publicity, promotion and advertising for MCA/Universal.
He wrote about his experiences in showbiz in his book “Beneath the Tinsel – The Human Side of Hollywood Stars.”
Rains was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Publicists Guild and Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters. After his retirement, he was active with Score and the Executive Services Corps of Southern Calif.
