Real-life plastic fanatics know less is more

Extreme makeovers are good television, but real-life plastic fanatics know less is more. That’s why plastic surgeons are touting new procedures that provide significant results under local anesthesia.

“Angelenos, especially those in the entertainment industry, ask to look healthy and well-rested but not overdone,” says Dr. David Rahimi, who is credited with inventing the “tuliplift.” “Most people don’t want to look drastically different.”

However, the biggest improvements in these kinder, gentler approaches may be in the psychological burden. After all, is it really surgery if you never saw a knife?

And, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, traditional procedures require similar recovery time, last just as long (or longer) and cost less than the newer nips and tucks.

As they say: It’s the little things that mean a lot, but a stitch in time saves nine.

V Life Weekend drew up a short list of small procedures that make a large impact.
