All of co.'s businesses will now report to Rodriguez
Leading U.S. Hispanic media company Univision Communications upped Univision network prexy Ray Rodriguez to prexy and chief operating officer Wednesday.
He will continue to report to A. Jerrold Perenchio, chairman and CEO. All of Univision’s businesses will now report to Rodriguez.
The position has been vacant since August 2000, when Henry Cisneros resigned to start a joint venture to develop inner-city housing.
Rodriguez joined Univision in August 1990 as VP and director of talent relations. In 1991 he was promoted to senior VP and operating manager of the Univision Network. He was upped to network prexy in 1992 when the company was acquired by its current controlling group.
Since 2001, Rodriguez also has been prexy of cable net Galavision and fledgling broadcast net Telefuturo, which launched in 2002.
Born in Cuba, Rodriguez is a graduate of Miami U. Before joining Univision, he worked with international accounting firm Deloitte & Touche for 10 years, followed by six years with the entertainer Julio Iglesias, the last four as his CEO and worldwide manager.
Rodriguez is based in Miami.
