Goodwin to take summer off, write novel

LONDON — TalkbackThames exec Daisy Goodwin, one of the pioneers of the popular lifestyle reality genre, is taking a career break.

During her seven years at Talkback, Goodwin, who began her career as a BBC arts producer, became synonymous with her aspirational shows offering advice on everything from real estate and home maintenance to sex. Her hits include “Jamie’s Kitchen,” featuring London celebrity chef Jamie Oliver; “Property Ladder”; “How Clean Is Your House,” which aired in the U.S.; and the British version of “The Apprentice.”

Goodwin’s contract expires next month. She plans to take the summer off to spend time with her family and finish her first novel.

Her former boss, Peter Fincham, recently appointed BBC1 controller, said that Goodwin had “almost become a brand in herself.”
