Exec to direct communication strategies for IFC
HOLLYWOOD — Rainbow Media has upped Matthew Frankel to VP of corporate communications, expanding his duties at IFC to include cablers AMC and WE: Women’s Entertainment.
He now reports to Rainbow corporate communications senior VP Ellen Kroner. He will help Kroner lead all press efforts on branding, programming, acquisitions, marketing and personnel as it relates to individual channels and Rainbow.
As vice president of IFC public relations, he directed communication strategies for both the Independent Film Channel and IFC Entertainment, which includes IFC Prods. and IFC Films. He led campaigns for the cabler’s 10th anniversary, expansion of original programming, the construction of the IFC Center and the inclusion of doc “Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession” in the Cannes Film Festival.
Before Rainbow, Frankel worked on Capitol Hill serving as press secretary for the Democratic Leadership Council, Rep. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and as a press aide for House Minority Leader Richard A. Gephardt (D-Mo.).
