Nicole King has abdicated her publicist job to join the representation game at Management 360. King, who spent six of her eight years as a publicist at BWR, will become a manager. Her first client will be Jennifer Garner.
King was the publicist for Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jessica Biel, Brittany Murphy, Britney Spears, Nick Lachey, Gabrielle Union and Laura Prepon. She will help transition them to other publicists within the agency and remain until fall shows are launched and Emmy campaigns are completed. She will join Management 360 in October.
Numerous publicists have made the switch to representation, which can be a more lucrative field. That list includes Jeff Golenberg, Billy Lazarus and Jonathan Perry.
King said the spark for the switch was her penchant for becoming involved with clients beyond publicity. She’d been told numerous times she ought to consider switching fields, and when the suggestion came from longtime client Garner, they began hatching plans to make it happen.
Management 360 partners were receptive to bringing in both King and Garner, and the deal was signed.
“It gives me the chance to be more involved in the creative process, to take what I know and apply it to a management setting,” King said.
