Deal encompasses catalog of TV programming
HOLLYWOOD — Plural Entertainment, the audiovisual content arm of Spain’s media conglom Grupo Prisa, has inked a co-production and distribution pact with Colombia’s Caracol Television.
Deal encompasses Plural’s catalog of TV programming, which includes skeins, TV movies, documentaries, gamers and animated children’s shows.
Caracol will sell Plural TV content at the NATPE confab in Las Vegas Jan. 25-27.
Highlighting Plural’s catalog is “Al filo de la ley” (At the Edge of the Law), a 13-episode skein that aired on U.S. Hispanic net Univision. Law firm-set drama is based on true stories of immigrants in the U.S.
The companies also plan to co-produce programs for the Spanish-speaking market in Spain, the U.S. and Latin America.
Caracol is among the leading producers of telenovelas in the region. It recently sold the format of its popular Mafia-based telenovela “La saga, negocio de familia” to Mexico’s TV Azteca, which plans to make a version to air in Mexico and on its U.S. net Azteca America.
“We are in talks with other Latino nets who are interested in acquiring the format,” said Caracol Intl. marketing manager Diana Visbal. “La Saga” already has sold to India and Russia.
