Exec replaces Marks
LONDON — NBC Universal Global Networks, the international TV arm of NBC Universal, has appointed Nick Betts managing director of its U.K. business.
He replaces Dan Marks, now heading British Telecom’s broadband activities.
Betts was commercial director at UKTV, a nonterrestrial channel business run jointly by Flextech and the BBC.
He will report to Patrick Vien, prexy of NBC Universal Global Networks, and will be responsible for the U.K. version of the Sci Fi Channel and broadening Universal’s channel portfolio in Blighty.
“Nick Betts is a terrific addition to the NBC Universal Global Networks team,” Vien said. “He is well respected in the British television industry, has extensive multichannel experience and great commercial acumen. He joins at an important time in our history, as we look to grow the U.K. business.”
At UKTV, Betts helped to launch six channels. He was previously head of U.K. and Ireland television at BBC Worldwide.
