NBC Universal Intl. Television Distribution has appointed two Euro sales execs, replacing longtime distrib reps Roger Cordjohn and Henrik van Daalen at the Hollywood major.
Carolyn Stalins has been named VP liaison, France and Italy. She will be based in Paris, reporting to division prexy Belinda Menendez.
Sven Noth has been named director liaison, Germany, and will be based in NBC U’s new Munich office, which will be shared with the company’s Intl. Networks Group. He will report to London-based Don McGregor, veepee liaison, for the international TV division.
Both will hop aboard in time for the upcoming Mipcom TV trade show in Cannes in mid-October. Germany, France and Italy jointly account for roughly 20% of revenues from foreign TV deals.
“Carolyn and Sven bring a wealth of experience and key client relationships in their respective territories to NBC Universal,” Menendez said.
Stalins will be responsible for overseeing the free and pay TV sales of NBC U programming in France and Italy as well as in French-speaking Europe.
Noth will handle oversight of free and pay TV sales for NBC U programming in Germany and German-speaking Europe.
Both Stalins and Noth will be charged with developing and implementing sales strategies in their respective territories.
Stalins joins NBC U from MGM’s London offshoot, where she was senior VP, responsible for licensing the Lion’s catalog abroad to TV outlets in the U.K., Ireland and France. Catalog included recent NBC product like “Will & Grace” and “Las Vegas,” as MGM has been the foreign distrib of Peacock-owned series outside North America for several years. However, in the wake of the sale of MGM to Sony, new NBC product will be handled directly by NBC U abroad.
Stalins first joined MGM in ’93 as part of its Paris sales operation. Before that, Stalins worked in production at Gaumont Television.
Noth joins NBC U from Germany’s T-Online, where he was senior manager of movies and music for content sourcing. Before that, Noth was a sales rep for Germany’s Super RTL and product manager for Teutonic cabler Kabel’s sales team.
Cordjohn handled distribution in France for Universal for 41 years; Van Daalen worked for the company for 25 years, handling Germany and Italy.
