Mediaset sells Telecinco shares

Italo broadcaster reduces stake to 50.1%

ROME — Italy’s Mediaset has shed a 1.9 % stake in Spanish web Telecinco which it will continue to control with a 50.1% share, the Silvio Berlusconi-controlled broadcasting company announced on Tuesday (Jan 18).

Mediaset placed 4.6 million shares in Gestavision Telecinco with institutional investors at €16.65 ($ 21.6) per share, through J.P. Morgan Securities, it said in a statement.

The Milan-based group underlined that even in the future it intends to hold a majority interest in Telecinco, which is Spain’s leading commercial broadcaster.
