'Boston' thesp joining skein for five-episode arc
“Boston Public” star Chi McBride has returned to Fox, guesting in several episodes of “House,” while the net has also picked up a wedding chapel-themed drama pilot from Spelling TV and scribe Jeffrey Lieber (“Lost”).
McBride, best known for his role as principal Steven Harper on “Boston Public,” will join “House” for a five-episode arc as wealthy businessman Edward Vogler, who donates $100 million to the hospital where Dr. House (Hugh Laurie) — an unconventional physician who investigates mysterious maladies — does his work.
Vogler becomes chairman of the board and decides that House and his entire team are a waste of the hospital’s time and resources. The NBC Universal drama airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
Beyond “Boston Public,” McBride’s credits include “The John Larroquette Show” and “The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer,” as well as the features “I Robot,” “The Terminal” and “Paid in Full.”
As for the Spelling project, Lieber has created a drama about a brother and sister who manage a Las Vegas wedding emporium. Show follows the siblings’ different approaches to their professional and personal lives, as well as the unusual stories of their clients and employees.
Lieber will exec produce, along with Aaron Spelling and E. Duke Vincent. The scribe helped create ABC’s megahit “Lost” and wrote the feature “Tuck Everlasting.”
