Peri Gilpin and Teri Polo have signed to star in the Lifetime original movie “For the Love of a Child.”
Project, slated to premiere in January, is based on the true story of two women who founded the national nonprofit org Childhelp USA, a refuge for abandoned and abused kids.
Sara O’Meara (Gilpin) and Yvonne Fedderson (Polo) were young actresses in 1959 entertaining American troops in Japan when they befriended 11 homeless orphans and found their calling. Movie follows their life’s work, focusing on two of the abused children who find solace in Childhelp. O’Meara and Fedderson are nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize this year.
Doug Barr directs from a script by Duane Poole, who adapted the teleplay from O’Meara and Fedderson’s book “Silence Broken.” Dog Run Prods. will produce in association with First Light Prods. Craig Anderson and Jill Canaparo are exec producers.
