The CNN News Group has named Laurie Goldberg senior VP and head of public relations.
She is senior veep of CNN’s Cartoon Network sibling, which she joined in 1998. Goldberg was part of the executive team that helped propel the network into the most profitable division of Turner Broadcasting.
Goldberg will oversee PR for all CNN divisions: CNN/U.S., CNN Headline News, CNN.com, CNN en Espanol, CNN Airport Channel, CNNRadio and CNN Newsource. Goldberg succeeds Matt Furman, who has resigned.
All of CNN’s PR staff in Atlanta, New York, Washington and Los Angeles will report to Goldberg, including Christa Robinson, who’s senior veep of PR based in New York. The Atlanta-based Goldberg will also maintain an office in Gotham.
Before joining Turner, Goldberg was VP of public relations for Pinnacle Books in Dallas for four years. Before that, she worked at Cohn & Wolfe, where she managed clients including Philip Morris, MasterCard, Colgate and the U.S. Mint.
Goldberg takes over the new post Monday, reporting to Shirley Powell, senior VP of corporate communications for Turner Broadcasting.
