Firm loses talent grip

Colonna ankles company for Brillstein-Grey

Suffering its second high-profile defection in as many months, the Firm has lost longtime manager JoAnne Colonna to Brillstein-Grey Management. Her departure appears to leave the management company without a head of its talent department, at least for now.

Colonna reps actors including Sarah Michelle Gellar, Brittany Murphy, Andy Garcia, Brendan Fraser and Anna Paquin, along with British thesps James Purefoy and Oliver James. All are expected to follow her to Brillstein-Grey, where she will be part of the company’s senior management team.

Colonna had spent six years at the Firm (including its former incarnation as AMG) as co-head of the talent department with Aleen Keshishian. But on July 11, Keshishian also moved to Brillstein-Grey (Daily Variety, July 12).

At the time, Firm principal Rick Yorn insisted Keshishian made her exit with the blessing of the company’s senior management: Keshishian’s contract had expired, and when the management company was unable to meet her desire to move up to partnership level, it didn’t contest when a revamping Brillstein-Grey was able to make that a reality.

Keshishian handles clients including Natalie Portman, Laura Linney, Julianna Margulies, Paul Rudd, Freddie Prinze Jr., Emily Mortimer and Jared Leto.

Yorn did not respond to calls seeking comment on Colonna’s departure.
