ABC has re-elected “Commander in Chief” to another nine episodes, approving a full-season term for the frosh drama.
“Commander” has received strong approval ratings from viewers, making it the No. 1 series among viewers in its Tuesday 9 p.m. slot. After four episodes “Commander” has averaged 16.5 million viewers and posted a 4.6 rating/11 share in adults 18-49.
Order means net will air a full 22 episodes of the White House skein from Touchstone TV.
Geena Davis stars as Mackenzie Allen, a moderate independent who becomes the first woman president when her predecessor dies. Show also stars Kyle Secor as her husband and Donald Sutherland as her nemesis, Speaker of the House Nathan Templeton. Harry Lennix, Ever Carradine, Caitlin Wachs, Matt Lanter and Jasmine Anthony also star.
Steven Bochco recently took over as showrunner of “Commander” and exec produces along with creator Rod Lurie, Marc Frydman and Dee Johnson.
