Amy Christopher has been named VP of East Coast casting at Fox, heading up the net’s talent efforts in New York.
Christopher handles casting for Fox’s primetime dramas and comedies on the East Coast, helping the net expand its hunt for talent beyond the usual sources.
Christopher reports to Marcia Shulman, exec VP of casting at Fox.
“She’s more than proven herself, as we’ve cast so many roles out of New York,” Shulman said.
Before Fox, Christopher worked in theater, including a five-year stint at New York’s Roundabout Theater Company. She also spent six seasons at Massachusetts’ Williamstown Theater Festival, as well as the Bay Street Theater Festival in Sag Harbor, N.Y.
Her casting credits include Broadway productions such as “The Man Who Had All the Luck” (with Samantha Mathis, Chris O’Donnell and Sam Robards) and “The Rainmaker” (starring Woody Harrelson).
Shulman said Christopher’s East Coast gig has become even more important as the competish for talent gets tighter in L.A.
“It’s not even that the pool is that small; there’s just so many outlets now,” Shulman said. “It used to be you were competing in just a three-, four- or five-network universe. Now we have to do everything we can to expand the gene pool.”
