Bernath joining network at end of the month

Comedy Central has recruited BBC America exec David Bernath as senior VP of programming.

Gotham-based Bernath will report to laffer net exec VP-general manager Michele Ganeless when he joins the network at the end of the month.

Bernath will oversee program scheduling, promotion scheduling and acquisitions.

He replaces former senior veep Kathryn Mitchell, who just relocated to Bernath’s old home as general manager of the Brit cabler (Daily Variety, Jan. 20). Move reunited Mitchell with former boss/BBC America topper Bill Hillary, who ankled Comedy Central last June.

Hiring Bernath rounds out Comedy Central prexy Doug Herzog’s programming team, which also includes development/original programming chief Lauren Corrao.

During his two years at BBC America, Bernath oversaw programming and scheduling, including original production and acquisitions. Before that, he spent eight years as VP of program planning for E! and Style.
